I am often asked what is the best way to stay motivated, lose weight, gain muscle, stay fit, get a better butt, bigger arms... and lots more. The reality is that training is different for everyone.

I believe that first and foremost, fitness should be fun... something you look forward to. If it isn't fun for you.... then try something new!

Nutrition is up to 85% of the equation when achieving fitness related goals. No matter if you are trying to lose fat or gain muscle... or maintain.... proper nutrition will often determine if you will achieve that goal.

Cardio is important for everyone to maintain basic health. For those of you interested in dropping fat... it is even more important. If you hate treadmills... don't do it! There are a million other ways to get your heart rate up! Try a new cardio class... jumping rope... jumping jacks during the commercials...whatever.... just get your heart rate up!

Weight training is a sore subject for many people. Going to a gym can be a little intimidating to those unfamiliar with proper form/use of equipment. If this is the case for you, I would suggest hiring a trainer for a couple of sessions so that you will be comfortable. it's easier than you think. If that's not your bag.... try some of the cool new DVD's out there! Or maybe do some internet research and invest in some handweights/resistance bands for your home.

Setting goals for yourself in training can be a great motivator. Perhaps you'd like to learn a new sport/activity, complete a race, achieve a level of expertise... whatever! You might suprise yourself and find something you LOVE!

Again... no matter what you choose... have fun!
